Step onto the stone walkway north of Beijing. The Great Wall is not one wall but many, built and rebuilt over about two thousand years, stretching across mountains, deserts, and grasslands. We will walk the ridge, climb into a watchtower, read the bricks, and learn what the wall was really for.
