Midan Micro-gigs · Earn

Commissions on the Square

Ask a fellow member for a small cultural favor: a bilingual caption, a family recipe written down properly, a playlist swap, three honest photos of a neighborhood spot. Your band supports the club. The member who does the work earns Midan credit.

Four founder boards

Small work, done with care

Every commission sits on one of four boards the founder chose. No homework, no costume-kit Egypt, no gig-app scramble.

  • A painted calligrapher’s desk by a carved wooden window, a reed pen resting on a brass inkwell beside flowing ink strokes and a cup of mint tea

    The calligrapher’s desk

    Bilingual caption

English plus Arabic — Egyptian dialect welcome — for one Reel or short. Taught captions, not costume kitsch.

  • A painted kitchen counter in afternoon light: a grandmother’s hands beside a handwritten recipe card, a copper pot of molokhia, garlic and coriander

    Teta’s kitchen

    Recipe card

One family dish: ingredients and about five steps, written as you actually cook it at home.

  • A painted listening corner: an inlaid oud leaning on a crate of records, a turntable and a brass lantern, a Brooklyn street glowing through the window

    The listening corner

    Playlist swap

Five American tracks and five heritage tracks, each with a one-line why.

  • A painted restaurant storefront at dusk with brass lanterns and a striped awning, a camera resting on a café table on the wet cobblestones

    The lantern-lit storefront

    Menu photo run

Three clear photos for a Support Local listing — plate, place, a readable menu. In person, 18+, and only where the business said yes.

How it works

Post, take, accept

  1. Post a commission

Pick a board and a $5, $10, or $25 band. The band is a payment to the Midan club, not to another member. If nobody takes it, cancel anytime and the band comes back as Midan credit.

  2. A member takes it

They have 72 hours to deliver through the notice, as a link. Everything stays on Midan: no phone numbers, no meet-ups.

  3. You accept

The helper earns Midan credit and a Passport stamp for that board. No answer in 72 hours counts as accepted.

$5 earns 30 Tutor minutes$10 earns 60 Tutor minutes$25 earns 180 Tutor minutes

Midan credit is Tutor time in your account: 30 minutes for a $5 commission, 60 for $10, 180 for $25. It never expires, has no cash value, can’t be transferred, sold, or cashed out, and is safe for every member 16+.

House rules

Safe for every member, 16 and up

  • Keep it on Midan. No phone numbers, emails, WhatsApp, or social handles in briefs or deliveries.
  • Never meet a stranger for a commission. Menu photo runs happen in public, during business hours, at a business that said yes.
  • Menu photo runs (in person) are for members 18+. Every other board is open to all members 16+.
  • Something feels off? Use Report. The Midan desk reviews every report.
